Cardio Tennis Receives Parliamentary Recognition

Cardio Tennis recently received a mention in one of the most prominent government venues in the world, the British Parliament. Since 2005 the Cardio Tennis product has spread to over 1,700 facilities in the United States and into over 30 countries, including England. The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has made a concerted effort to help grow the game in England at the grassroots level and has latched on to Cardio Tennis as a catalyst to increase tennis participation and help showcase tennis as a healthy and fit lifestyle choice.

Tennis Australia Continues to Expand Cardio Tennis

Tennis Australia’s coach membership manager, Karen Clydesdale, recently spent 10 days in the U.S., meeting with and traveling with Cardio Tennis National Program Manager Michele Krause. Karen and her team in Australia have been working to expand the Cardio Tennis reach Down Under—and they’ve seen a huge response.

As the cardio tennis craze sweeps across the nation, many clubs are wondering how to get in on the action. At Live To Play Tennis in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, just outside of Charleston, the tennis club made use of the website LivingSocial.com and within a 24 hour period had 244 people sign up! Through LivingSocial, Live To Play offered 3 cardio clinics at 51% off the original price, a deal that proved to be too good to pass up for citizens living in "America's Best Tennis Town."

CT Spokesperson Anna Kournikova Joins ‘Biggest Loser’

Cardio Tennis spokesperson Anna Kournikova is the newest trainer on “The Biggest Loser” reality show. The tennis star first came to the show in an episode that aired last October, when she put the contestants through a Cardio Tennis workout. Kournikova replaces Jillian Michaels, who left the NBC show after Season 11.

Former TIA President Jim Baugh Named to SGI Hall of Fame

Former TIA President Jim Baugh was inducted into the Sporting Goods Industry Hall of Fame in a ceremony in May in Tucson. As TIA president, Baugh, a longtime SGMA board member, was the driving force behind the creation and promotion (along with the USTA) of the popular Cardio Tennis program.
