Tennis coaching legend Nick Bollettieri will be inducted into the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame on Aug. 27 at the Grand Hyatt New York. Bollettieri, one of the world’s most famous coaches, will be honored for his significant impact on tennis.

The Tennis Industry Association has added David Malinowski, the tennis category manager for adidas, and Fred Stringfellow, the executive director of the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), to its board of directors. Malinowski and Stringfellow join Dave Miley of the International Tennis Federation, who was named in April, as the newest members of the TIA board.

Cardio Tennis spokesperson Anna Kournikova is the newest trainer on “The Biggest Loser” reality show. The tennis star first came to the show in an episode that aired last October, when she put the contestants through a Cardio Tennis workout. Kournikova replaces Jillian Michaels, who left the NBC show after Season 11.

Former TIA President Jim Baugh was inducted into the Sporting Goods Industry Hall of Fame in a ceremony in May in Tucson. As TIA president, Baugh, a longtime SGMA board member, was the driving force behind the creation and promotion (along with the USTA) of the popular Cardio Tennis program.

The tennis industry is comprised of a diverse group of leaders who have contributed greatly to the growth and sustainability of the sport and the industry.  This year’s TIA Tennis Forum in New York City will play host to the 4^th Annual Tennis Industry Hall of Fame Induction where this year’s inductee will join the likes of previous inductees:  Howard Head (2008), Dennis Van der Meer (2008), Alan Schwartz (2009), and Billie Jean King (2010).  Plaques are on permanent display for the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. Nominations this year’s award are now being accepted through June 30^th, 2011 at TennisIndustry.org/hof.
