Tennis Gets Boost in Palm Beach Newspaper

Tennis in the Palm Beach area got a boost through an article in early July in the health section of the Palm Beach Post newspaper. Staff Writer Steve Dorfman wrote that tennis is the country’s fastest growing participation sport, and pointed to initiatives by the U.S. Tennis Association and Tennis Industry Association as helping to push tennis along.

10 Finalists Named in ‘Best Tennis Town’ Contest

Ten finalists have been selected—from an initial group of 82 cities that submitted entries—in the USTA’s “Best Tennis Town” competition. Fans across the country can now vote for the community that they feel best exemplifies tennis’ positive impact at the local level in terms of passion, excitement and spirit.

‘Prevention’ Magazine Features Cardio Tennis

The July issue of Prevention magazine included a feature titled “Cardio Tennis: Recess for Adults,” about the benefits of Cardio Tennis for “sculpting your arms, legs, chest, shoulders and core.” The article said that Cardio Tennis is “a truly energizing experience that burns around 350 to 500 calories an hour.”

New CTA Energized by Success of Block Party

The Fergus Falls Tennis Association in Minnesota is one of the youngest CTAs in the USTA Northern section. Started just over a year ago, this small-town association decided to energize its efforts with a block party on May 27th. More than 200 kids and adults and adults showed up.

CTAs: Watch Your Tax-Exempt Status

On May 16, the IRS began revoking tax-exempt status from nonprofits that failed to file three consecutive annual returns (Form 990-N, 990-EZ, 990, or 990-PF). Approximately 25% of not-for-profits may lose their tax-exempt status for failure to file a 990 form.
