For years, the Savannah Area Tennis Association (SATA) has organized programs in public and private schools throughout its community in Georgia, both in school and after school. This year, however, SATA has become a key player in a network of community organizations dedicated to increasing the recreational opportunities of underserved school children through tennis.

3 Finalists Named for ‘Best Tennis Town’

Atlanta, Charleston, and Richmond, Va., have been selected as the three finalists in the USTA’s second annual search to determine the winner of the “Best Tennis Town” contest, as determined by nationwide voting. The ultimate winner will be announced during the 2010 US Open.

AmEx, USTA Present ‘Fresh Courts’ Renovation Program

Longtime USTA partner American Express will present the inaugural “Fresh Courts” program, a philanthropic effort to invest in developing communities through the renovation of tennis facilities. The 2010 program targets 17 tennis courts in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and New York.

Tennis Industry Honors Billie Jean King

However, growing caution may affect the marketplace with the recent announcement by the Conference Board that, despite three months of increases, the Consumer Confidence Index declined sharply in June.
